Summary:
Develops, maintains, and monitors Flight Operations Safety programs in alignment with GACA/ICAO SMS standards. Coordinates proactively with operational departments to identify risks and implement preventive measures.
Supports flight operational incident analysis, prepares investigation reports, and provides recommendations to improve operational safety performance.
Coordinates SRB meetings, updates safety action items, and tracks safety issues to closure in accordance with company safety processes.
Assists in risk assessment processes, ensuring operational changes are evaluated for safety impact prior to implementation.
Scope:
- Oversees flight operations safety initiatives, including hazard identification, risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion activities. Ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational SMS requirements.
- Conducts detailed operational safety investigations for flight incidents, operational deviations, and hazards. Prepares safety investigation reports and recommends corrective/preventive actions.
- Facilitates regular Safety Review Board (SRB) meetings, monitors safety performance indicators (SPIs), and ensures appropriate documentation and tracking of safety issues.
- Develops and delivers operational safety briefings, safety alerts, and targeted awareness campaigns to enhance the safety culture among flight crew and operations personnel.
- Monitors operational reports (e.g., ASRs, flight crew reports) to detect potential safety trends. Performs data-driven safety analysis and recommends safety enhancements.
- Supports risk assessments for new flight operations, routes, and procedures. Ensures hazards are identified, risk assessments are conducted, and mitigations are effectively implemented.
- Analyzes operational safety reports to identify trends and contributes to the continuous improvement of flight safety procedures.
- Conducts SMS audits and operational safety inspections as part of the internal evaluation program. Ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and internal policies.
- Participates in internal audits and inspections, identifying safety gaps and verifying corrective action implementation.
- Liaises with regulatory authorities (GACA, ICAO), external auditors, and industry bodies to maintain best practices and regulatory compliance in flight operations safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Aeronautical Science, or related Safety field, or SMS Certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation operations and/or aviation safety management.
- Strong knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, GACAR Part 5, and SMS principles.
- Experience in operational safety investigations, risk assessment, and safety auditing.
- Proficiency in safety management tools and data analysis software preferred.
